    Broken limbs and black mouth?

How old was she at that point? I noticed that some of my T. sinensis would start losing tarsi and bits and pieces of their feet and wings as they aged. Old mantises are more likely to lose their grip and fall. I think it was a good idea for you to place extra netting on the top and sides so she...

    Idolo female :-D

Good luck with breeding the idolos! I completely agree with the importance of establishing a captive stock vs. relying on WC ooths. My first ever idolo girl shed to adult last week. Her sisters should shed sometime soon. I have two sub males that have been "stuck" at that instar for a long...

Color morph experiment in Phyllocrania paradoxa (Environmental trigger).

Not sure, I got mine as L2s from someone else.

FS 2 presub Sibylla pretiosa males

    S. pretiosa is a pretty cool species, however, I plan to drop this species due to all the other species I'm currently taking care of. I have two males remaining - I think they're pre-sub - I'm not 100% sure because I haven't been keeping good track of the number of molts. They're currently...

    Largest species of flower mantis?

Blepharopsis mendica is larger than creos and P.W.'s, but requires extra heat and is not the easiest to breed.

    Mrskatix

I am extremely happy with this transaction. I wanted to order some nymphs in February, but the weather was way too cold here,so Kat kindly held them until March. That was greatly appreciated! I can tell she truly cares a lot about the hobby and the mantises she sells. Communication was...

Color morph experiment in Phyllocrania paradoxa (Environmental trigger).

I currently have 6 L5-6 ghost females living communally in a container with sticks and paper towels. So far, 5 are definitely green, and the other one is greenish brown, which seems to be on the verge of turning green. In the past, I had a few ghost pairs and the adult females were green and the...

    Great offer

I ordered from them before, got a big bag of mealworms, in a box punched with holes and labeled "Live Animals." I guess because of the label, the mailman didn't leave it at my doorstep and left a note asking me to pick it up at the post office the next day. When I did, the guy who handed me the...

    S. Quinquedens

Congrats! I love jokers, they're currently my favorite mantis species. Would love to see more pics of them. And good luck with the breeding. :)

    humidity !

My humidity percentage is in the 20s. I have to use two humidifiers, which I have to refill 3 times a day because I have them on maximum mist output. I mist most of my species two times a day, except for the dry-tolerant species. I put a lot of paper towels as substrate and keep them pretty...

    Sally

All the nymphs arrived in perfect condition plus extras. Sally packed up the nymphs with lots of love and care, to ensure a safe and quick journey. She's so kind, generous, and helpful, and I'm looking forward to doing business with her again. :)

Temperature for House Fly (Musca Domestica) pupae

I've hatched mine anywhere between 70-80F, around 50% humidity. I feel that house fly pupae "go bad" pretty quickly, compared to blue bottle pupae. I can store BB pupae in the fridge for a few weeks. Once I stored my HF pupae in the fridge for a few days just to delay hatching, and ended up...

    deformed mantid nymphs doing well

I've had mantises with twisted legs that recovered fully with the next molt, as long as they were still able to grip upside down. However, bent thoraxes are more of an issue. I had some "bent" nymphs that were able to eat while being hand-fed, but despite my efforts, they still weakened over...

    Color difference in Creo ooth...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes holding ooths to a bright light and seeing the nymphs inside, lol. :D I keep telling myself that I'm being way too obsessive. It is pretty cool to see the little heads! And yes, ooths an be different colors, shouldn't be a problem. They sometimes get...

    Hestiasula's gigantic ooth

So far so good, the ooth is still green as ever. I've read somewhere that the incubation time is only 3 weeks! :o Denise - I hope your package shows up soon! I ordered stuff from Europe twice and it took around 4-5 days, but I guess it depends on the postal service. On the other hand, once a...

    Green form Phyllocrania paradoxa

I've had green pre-sub/sub male ghosts, not as green as the females, more like greenish yellow or greenish brown. However, every time they molted to adult, they would become brown. It would be really interesting to see a green male adult.

    P. wahlbergii - Mated, but ooth did not hatch

The female mated once, the connection began at around 9pm and when I went to bed at around 1am, they were still connected. When I woke up the next morning, the male was already dismounted. I think the same male mated another one of my females a few weeks later. He seemed to be the most eager to...
