its very easy to sex mantids, 1stly , make sure you see the underside , females have 6 large segments and a fat abdomen , and males have skinny abdomens that contain 8 smaller segments ! all of mine have turned out to be females , so i got 3 membrancea female nymphs , 2 at sub-sub adult stage...

mine are on outmeal ( porridge oats ) mixed with honey and mixed around on a low heat for a couple of mins till its crumbley/stickey . and thats what they eat ! the moths dont eat anything ! Neil

as i live in england the temprature is not exactly hot , in fact its around 20 degrees or less so what temprature range are you meaning ? also i take out my pupae and put them into a seperate container and never had any trouble with moths emerging ! i guess i can put em back i suppose ! Neil

im guessing it depends whether it been layed by the same female but not sure , if not then it will probaly be an out-right war between each ooths hatchlings , also if its a different specie then they will for sure attack each other ! but i duno about if they were layed by the same female ...

everyday i keep having to take out about 4 - 6 waxworms from my tub because they died for no reason ! it looks like there insides have turned to S**T because on the outside theve gone blueish eventually going black within a day ! has anyone else had this or know of what it is ? Neil

sorry .. i ment about dessicata ! because some of the " dead leaf " mantids are known as " dead leafs " while i think one is called " giant dead leaf " , however ... i duno ! more confusion about common names lol Neil
