    Mantis auto feeder

I think dumping the feeders into the mantid's environment with a source of food is really all you need to do... lol

    Ooth... Half hatched?

One of them died, however, two of them have molted. :) I'm not gonna put them into individual containers until they're around L3, seeing as I can put dozens of fruit flies in the container they're in for an unlimited smorgasbord.

    Ooth... Half hatched?

I got a chinese mantid ooth for free at a reptile show a while ago. 2 weeks ago, 5 or 6 babies popped up in the container. It's been 2 weeks and I haven't seen anymore. There are a few little strings dangling from the ooth. Are there anymore coming?

    Harvesting roaches.

I feel very confused now... lol However, the egg case must be initially made, then retracted back into the female, then pushed out yet again for birth. If... that... helps any?

    hissing cockroach breeding question

Vaseline (petroleum jelly) works great on keeping them from climbing. The egg case will not hatch; hissing cockroaches internally incubate their egg cases. It was dropped by the female because she's either stressed (environmental or she was spooked) or the egg case was malformed.

    Harvesting roaches.

Actually, lobster roaches (Nauphoeta cinerea) are a livebearing species. The egg case is retained inside the female after it is initially made.

    New Drosophilia culture!

Alrighty then. Phorids they are! :) The het flightless maggots are almost mature. :)

    Harvesting roaches.

You could select particularly fat females and put them in isolation until they give birth. Or you could use a deep sifter (with the sides slicked up so the larger roaches can't just crawl out )with slits large enough for the nymphs. I bought mine at a dollar store.

    Moldy fruit flies?

Actually, I did get to taste/smell some of that medium at the last reptile show... I find this other stuff even better tasting AND smelling! :P

    New Drosophilia culture!

Definitely not phorid flies. I've seen these around as well; these are definitely fruit flies of some sort. I do, actually, have a high-powered microscope with a camera attachment on hand. Would close-up photos help the dilemma? ***Edit- I may have to bite my tongue. They just might be phorid...

My mother tolerates everything except insects in the fridge. lol

    Moldy fruit flies?

I think that's easier with non-flying strains. I have fliers, so... Not so easy. lol
