    Can roaches eat strawberries?

They're probably cleaner in your garden than store bought.

let's start a thread of mundane occurrences!

My roaches love Repashy Bug Burger, but it ain't cheap. Today, I didn't have enough Bug Burger left to mix up a full batch, so I added some inexpensive poultry feed to it. So about 50% Bug Burger and 50% chick feed. My roaches seem to like this new mixture just as much as pure Repashy.

Catchin’ Flies and Giving Out the Prize

You just have to rely on the possibility of the flies going down instead of up. A bit contrary to their instincts, but............ Maybe punch some holes in the bottom of the mantis container, and then place the fly container underneath. The flies would have to somehow crawl though that...

    Cloudy Eye Help?

I wonder if there's some old skin left over from the last molt.

Could one raise a mantis purely through hand feeding?

Lots of herbivores to choose from. Roaches, millipedes, isopods.

    Doodles/Sketches/Art Thread

I once hung out on a message board that dealt with a hit TV show. Compared to what I was accustomed to, the amount of traffic was astounding.

    Doodles/Sketches/Art Thread

I was just being ornery. Mantises are kind of a niche interest group. Not many folks into it, I guess.

    Cork bark for roaches?

I don't see a problem with that. I'm sure folks with more decorative enclosures use it.

Haven't been visit the mantis forum since covid, but it seems I'm not the only one.

I poked around on an anole group on FB. They know a thing or two about UV light. That's a requirement for anoles. I get the impression we know more about feeders.

let's start a thread of mundane occurrences!

I made the above statement on 02/26/23. Since then, I've been working on my third cricket generation. The first chirp occurred about an hour ago. That means that at 90F, it takes Acheta domesticus exactly two months to go through it's complete lifecycle. The second generation remained in...

The second generation has learned to accept my idiosyncrasies.

My experience with Shelfordella lateralis roaches is similar to pet store crickets. They do better in the second generation.

Are you sure it wasn’t just grooming?

leaving for a trip, will my mantis be okay without food for 10ish days?

I wonder when Marjorie Taylor Greene took her first biology class. She disapproves of fake meat that was grown in a "peach tree dish."

Possibly stupid question for keepers of beetles

If they do, it's an attempt to escape, find food, find a mate, etc.

leaving for a trip, will my mantis be okay without food for 10ish days?

I'm no gut loading authority, but I'd be inclined give a feeder what's best for the feeder. That, in turn, should be best for the pet. I'm giving my Shelfordella lateralis roaches Repashy Bug Burger. They seem to like it, but I have some reservations about it's calcium content. Bug Burger is...

No, but apparently the change requires energy which expends some of that composition. At least until it's renewed.
