looks good, first... dont use crickets with this. They will and can eat through plastic! Like Mr sponge man said, it may get dirty so find out now how to keep it clean, even if that means to line it with something. Lastly... looks great =)

i personally prefer glass/plastic for one reason and one reason only, clean up! yes you can see better and all that jazz, but cleaning a net cage is a huge hassle that i dont like. I hate net cages lol all wrong for me, but then again im a 280lb 6' strong male so weight isnt an issue, and paper...

i play with alot of my mantises all the time and i think i get defensive striked at me at a rate of once every 3 months lol. Mostly when i first try to handle them, and secondly when i try to show a friend the defense poss =P

if you have things that actually fly, then the area is not relevant because the lil nymph will stalk its prey, its a problem when there are only fruit flies and crickets that only walk and/or cant climb. 10 gallons may still be a tad huge for one nymph but ive seen others do it successfully...

i do that all the time, and if you put potatoes and scrap veggies they live forever. if your cage has places for your mantis can escape(the crickets cant reach it) then its fine, BUT! crickets in mass have the ability to eat mantises, which happens some times. Mostly to non adult mantises.

Yeah, for a proper opinion, more information is needed. As Phil said, Was this national or international? What where the species? How big was the container? Did it look like there were mantis pieces in the container(because we all know mantis are messy eaters)? How hot was it during shipping...
