need help finding food for ghost mantis

Even as a nymph, when I tried to see her reaction to the roaches by tossing them in, she went crazy. She was just a little too small to grab them.

need help finding food for ghost mantis

Interesting. My Otomantis would go nuts for just about anything. She wasn't picky lol.

You've given us immense power and for that I shall be eternally grateful.

let's start a thread of mundane occurrences!

Er, maybe just get something that's meant to heat enclosures for animals? Those are meant to be safe unattended. Space heaters are a fire risk. .-.

    Would appreciate some guidance!

She could be about to molt.

let's start a thread of mundane occurrences!

I don't know if that heating pad is safe. They're not built to be constantly on and it's likely a fire hazard. I'd purchase a heat mat or heat tape with a thermostat. As for the die-offs, it's possible they really just don't like the food you're giving them. Try some apples or carrots. Red...

let's start a thread of mundane occurrences!

What temperature are you keeping them at? Lats are quite skittish and should be zoomy. As for their food, they're not a super protein driven roach. Apples, carrots, sweet potatoes and greens are good food for them! Oranges work too. I'd make sure to give a variety of fruits/veggies too. If you...

let's start a thread of mundane occurrences!

Yay for roachies! I like S. lateralis and had a lot of fun keeping them, but they do have their cons. They are potentially infestatious. While it's not as your common as your known roach squatters, they're still a risk. Just be careful with them.

    New Website!

WoaH! You managed to get your hands on Phyllocrania illudens?? Never thought I'd see those offered by anybody!

    Unexpected Parent

You can always buy a ghost mantis nymph for a fairly cheap price since they’re so common!!! They’re very cute and great beginners, although I typically recommend something like an H. venosa or H. majuscula as a beginner because they have a higher prey drive. Creobroters are also great if you...

That's unfortunate. I hope you have good memories of her.

    Disablities & Molting

If she's been eating a lot, then her abdomen is probably just hanging down from gravity (nymphs also like to curl their abdomen's until they get their wings). How's she doing now though?

Hello from Los Angeles California! I’m new here!

Your Hallmark comment seemed very callous. Almost like you were mocking them for feeling concerned over the mantises. Unfortunately, these sorts of jokes fly over people's heads unless you explicitly state your intentions.

Going to be selling H. majuscula soon

An ooth has been laid and set to Yen! However, they must first incubate for 2-3 months. It will be a bit before there's any babies.

    Hi from Wisconsin.

Weclome dude. I hope you enjoy having mantises take over your life! That's what happens to just about every poor soul that steps foot on this forum. There is no escape. : )

    European Mantis Ootheca Care

It will probably be okay outside, but sometimes ooths can get parasites from being outside. It wouldn't be very likely because of the low temperatures, but you can never be too sure when spring comes. I'd personally keep it in the fridge.

    Success hand feeding my Ghost

I use very thing tweezers when I have to hand feed. I always make sure I have live prey available for mantises since bottleflies can be a pain. You can get a 50 ct cup of banded crickets (these are safe for mantises) from rainbow mealworms. The 1/2 size is cheap ($3) and great for smaller...

Basically, they mean for you stick the ooth in the fridge until it's spring.
