Mealworm in a Pinch- I Think Reaper Likes It!

Same thing happened to me last month! Cilantro was MUCH more picky and eventually I had to cut one of the mealworms in half and basically shove it in her face for her to try it. Once she did, she loved it! Flies are such a pain to get, I don't think anyone breeds them locally here. I mostly...

let's start a thread of mundane occurrences!

Can you show some pictures? It might also help to make your own thread, probably in this section https://mantidforum.net/forums/health-issues.3/

    Chewing feet

Yeah it looks like she's passed - if you want to be sure you can put her in the freezer for about an hour. Even if she is alive, the freezer won't cause her any pain/stress as she goes. RIP :(

    Lighting Question

My ghost has been fine in my poorly heated apartment (it's gotten down to 62°F at night, though I try to avoid that and it's usually at 68°F during nighttime now), so I think yours should be ok with a night cycle!

    He's Here!!!

Aww so talented! My ghost (her name is Cilantro) was SO wiggly when I first got her as a L4. She's still very wiggly. And the smaller enclosure until he gets bigger is a good idea!

    He's Here!!!

Super cute little guy! I love the 'dance' that ghosts do. It looks like he'll blend in perfectly with the wood you put in the enclosure!

    Are These Plants Mantis-Friendly?

I've bought all of my vivarium plants from NeHerp and they've mostly been great! I did have some issues with the Peperomia albovittata 'Rana Verde' plants I ordered rotting, but all of my others have either thrived or died because of something that was totally my fault.

    Are These Plants Mantis-Friendly?

I like to use NeHerp's vivarium plant shop to check out bug safe plant types, since they're intended for use with anything you want to keep in vivariums. I've used a few Peperomia species and I've had no problems with my mantises! https://neherpetoculture.com/plants Here's the shop, it's a...

    Enclosure Progress!

It looks really cool! I bet that your mantis will like climbing on the background wood. I've got the same enclosure base (Zilla habitat?) and it's a really nice cage.

    Happy to be here!

Nice to meet you! I do some undergrad work with vectors of infectious disease (though nothing fancy, just collecting and sorting) and it's very interesting.

    Firenkyo's Mantids

Minty has unfortunately passed away :( He was a very pretty boy and a great first mantis, and I'm glad I got the chance to keep him! Here are my first and last pics of him. I think I'll try to pin him - not sure if I want to go for a spread wing display or try to make one that looks like he's...

    Isopod pics/vids

Flipped over the isopod barks to check on how they're doing, still going strong! I saw a baby orange cream which is cool, I bought some at an expo but 7/10 died. Hopefully they'll reproduce some more!
