    Amputating procedure

If you've been feeding her beekeeper's honey, then I would say it's just a scab! Keep a close eye on it, though. It's so good that she's eating! All of your methods sound good and I really hope you can nurse your mantis back to health

    Amputating procedure

@AltarMantis That looks really good! I'm glad that the procedure went well and I hope for the best for her. You've given her food and water, right? Can she grab onto the food with her other raptor?

    Advice on feeding nymphs

Too many flies can stress out the nymph. I would suggest only putting in a few at a time

    Amputating procedure

Just choose somewhere she can bend her limb, at a joint. when I said middle of the leg was difficult for mantids, I meant middle of the leg as in a place where the exoskeleton doesn't have a joint! Cut as little off as possible.

    Wish me luck!

Good luck! Whether it's GAD or hyperthyroidism, it is so great that you're seeking out treatment. I wish you luck on your way to identifying and being able to put a cause as to what you're facing.

    Amputation consolidated (READ before amputating)

Okay, first of all, disclaimer: I don't think amputations on mantises should be performed unless absolutely 100% NECESSARY. Those instances can be rare depending on species and the situation the mantis is in. That said, there is no solid place on the forum telling members, especially new...

    Amputating procedure

@AltarMantis You inspired me to make a whole separate post about this! I'm going to start a thread with this exact thing written except the parts about your individual mantis I wouldn't suggest amputating it. The mantis can, once she regains her strength, hopefully chew off that part of the...

Ghost nymph just damaged her arm.

Ghost nymph just damaged her arm.

have you tried slicing in half a larger feeder, squeezing out the guts, and offering that to her? I've done that with my nymphs

Ghost nymph just damaged her arm.

Here's a method commonly used called the thumbtack method:  Best of luck with your mantis, I hope she turns out alright! I love ghost mantises. If there's an open wound, honey is a very good idea to help it heal without infection. @Amantis

    Stagomatis californica mismolt

She'll probably be able to chew that off on her own, luckily it's just a leg. Make sure to give her lots of water to drink, as they loose a lot of moisture when molting, and like you were doing, hand feed her honey or maybe a sliced open feeder for strength. Best of luck with your mantis

    wax worms?

It does get a bit smelly sometimes, but usually if you take out the carcasses that can prevent a lot of the smell. I love your post about the flies, btw! :)

    wax worms?

Bran, wheat germ, and oatmeal can all be used as the crunchy base for your feed. You can use honey or glycerine, glycerine helps keep in moisture and warmth, but honey should work just fine! I put them in a paper bag under the heat lamp so that they're in the dark but they're warm. It helps to...

    Here we go~!

Yes, two to four weeks is usually the correct amount of time to wait with Hierodula Membranacea! The time frame sounds right, you could probably attempt a little earlier too. And I would suggest watching them, just in case...   those females can get quite aggressive. Good luck with your...

    wax worms?

Here's my time to shine :P  I love waxworms. They're cheap and easy to take care of, just like mealworms! Except instead of beetles to turn into, they turn into moths, giving your praying mantises a healthier flying insect to eat rather than a beetle. Breeding them is cheap and easy, though you...

    Sarah K (PanTerra Pets)

I've purchased two different times from her, and she has been amazing both times. She sent four violins my way and all came alive and packed very nicely in consideration to their species and size. She is so kind and quick to respond, with mantids who are clearly taken care of. Thank you, Sarah!
