Whats the worst that could happen?

You need to live where it's warm Rebecca. I have put the A/C unit on a couple nights so I can snuggle up and still be comfy. It's almost midnight here, and I have not heated my place in several weeks, and it's 76 degrees in here :) and I just closed the front door about twenty minutes ago...

    Avicularia metallica

The pink toed should be an 'Avicularia avicularia', from what I've read. I think alot of them come from guyana, or however it's spelled.

    Feeding crickets

I hatched a bunch of pinhead crickets, and fed them dry dog food, uncrushed. I also put fruit in the shoe box, and carrot pieces, and kept a paper towel moist for water. I had lots of baby pinheads, but very quickly, I assume due to excess moisture, the fruitflies appeared and seemed to take...

    ATS Conference Arizona

Went to the atshq site and saw about the conference. Never been to rio rico, but that place looks cool. I have always liked riparian areas, and that looks like a neat place. The fella in the photo's there, Chris, with the Elvis shirt on, is who I bought my versicolor from at the mesa reptile...

    HELP with fly pupae.

My flies I got from chuck lasted about a month, maybe a bit more, in the fridge. I kept them in the door, where it's a bit warmer, if you call that warm. That is where I was told to keep my mealworms also. Some of the last flies didn't hatch out, but I had so many, chuck gave a bag of the...

    FS: Overwintering chrysalis and cocoons

I'm assuming these are butterflies? How many come from a single cocoon/chrysalis?

    hello from ohio

Howdy My first ooth didn't go well. I didn't know they needed misting, and they just hung under the ooth and dried up. I didn't have them in an enclosure either though, that would maintain humidity, so crispy critters. Next ooth they did well, with the exception of canabalistic massacree...

What is ATS? I'm wanting to go to Frog Day, in april, and another reptile/predator show they'll be having in mesa in april.

    Does high humidity hurt electronics?

It may eventually create some mold or mildew on the circuit boards over time if it gets too nasty in there, but they have tv's in some of the humidest places in the world, so i wouldn't worry too much. Now if you go spilling stuff into the set then you may not want to be firing it up too...

    worm breeding

My worms do seem to enjoy the fruitfly culture material I put in the bins after I can them. I dig into the bin and I always find worms in the FF culture, in nowhere else in particular. May be the yeast, may be the well decomposed, and ever so tasty dregs from the culturing process. I'm not...

    One a day

No, they were done molting, by at least a day, and sometimes more than a week. I just mentioned it cause I never saw this happen before they were adults, but then again it's just recently got up to the 80's outside during the day, which means it's higher inside since it retains the heat, and...

    Watery poo...

I am in no way representing this as what to do, just merely passing info for info's sake. When folks get disentary, they get dehydrated. A field remedy would be to mix charcoal with water, and drink it. I thought of this and then I thought about how the feed/nutrient schedule usually lists...

    HELP with fly pupae.

As much space as was between the body of Phil's post and the end I was hoping that a photo of the apparatus would be shown, but no such luck. What about a photo of this contraption Phil? or a link

Why are the so freeking dumb?

Nope, all I have is chinese for now. I'm wanting to go hunting for some native species, but things haven't been quite cooperative for that to happen lately.

    worm breeding

I have red wigglers in my closet. thre tubs of them. They need the cool weather, and if you get much over 80 degrees they'll pretty much melt, and they you'll have no worms. I just started my red wiggler cultures last october or november. I too have the 'worms eat my garbage' book. They...

    One a day

They are chinese mantis'. Some eat, I've only noticed them drink last week, before that I never saw them drink. I figure before last week they got enough moisture from their prey, but maybe they drank the mist on the jar after I'd left or later, but last week when it heated up I noticed them...

Why are the so freeking dumb?

Now who would expect a post like that from someone that has the 'superfreak' for his avitar... :) Maybe that's all that's wrong with mine, the heat, but it's cooled and they still die at the rate of one a day since about a week after they reached adulthood. Let us know, superfreak, if they...

    twigs

I just pull branches, or more like branchlets or twigs, off the live tree outside in the courtyard, and they work fine. I leave the leaves on, but end up getting rid of some of the leaves after they die. Mold can form between leaves where they touch.
