New mantids to hobby - dream mantid

Pseudocreobotra Ocellata and Pseudocreobotra Wahlbergii respectively. Apparently "Camo Mantis" is called Kishinouyeum. I'd love to have one of those, but sadly if it is on Christian's most wanted list I'll probably never even see one :P

    Do they have a chance?

I dont really think that they can actually hatch "prematurely"... Granted their parents exhibited extremely fast metabolism causing them to grow quickly, that me be attributed more to diet and temperature than anything else. It is natures way that the babies will hatch when they are ready to...

New mantids to hobby - dream mantid

I am looking forward to getting some B. Mendica soon. I have wanted them since I started this hobby. I also cant wait to get some P.W.'s, since Ive had some success with P.O.'s. I want to try I. Diabolica and Idolmorpha some day, as well as any Unicorn Sp. and any Sybilla Sp. and when I am more...

    I don't get this...

Or maybe an easier solution would be to ask Peter to add an extra function to the search feature that only searches Christian's posts. He has answered just about every legitimate question on this board at least once as it is, so that would be very usefull.

    Hardest to Raise Successfully

As far as nymphs go, Psuedoharpax V. has given me the most grief. I keep them at very precisely controlled temp and humidity, and it still seems impossible to keep them alive. Especially at L1 and L2. I have gone from 50 to 5 over the course of a month since they hatched with no explanation. I...

    ghosts?

Our own minds create our sense of reality and what we percieve. We see what we truly want to see, which is why it is much harder to record what we see, whether it be ghosts or aliens or Jesus onto film. The camera does not want to see anything and therefore will record what was actually there...

    ghosts?

One of these days humans are going to wholly understand the Truth about the afterlife. That there isn't one. Period. Once we do we will be so much more liberated to focus on our lives while we are living them instead of basing our actions on the hope, faith, dream, wish or whatever you want to...

How I make fruit fly medium!

In July there was literally an outbreak of fruit flies here. They were in everyones face and causing a major nuisance, so much to the point of them making the local paper. They even would pester you if you had insect repellent on, which actually killed them, and you ended up with dead ff's all...

How I make fruit fly medium!

Ive been using mashed potatoes yeast and Sunny D. There was a thread around here where one of the elite original members of the board was talking about how to add the yeast to warm water to "jump start" it into growing quickly and out competing any chance of mold. I have searched for that...

How big should a mantid be to take on a fly?

Curly wings dont exist here in the US. <_< Regular houseflies will have to do. But fear not... in an inclosed container such as a mantis enclosure, houseflies rarely fly, but rather run around looking for an exit. Should be no trouble for a three legged L-1 Hirodula. In fact I wouldnt...
