    My 'growlist'

I've got those photo diary thingies of mantids in the photos section as they're easy to keep track of... but I just can't be bothered with the others lol.

    My Mantis Collection

Brian, hi. It's Richard. N (administrator of Mantis Keepers and Phasmids and Mantids Group on facebook). What you said here doesn't really add up because there are no Asiadodis sp. decribed as "A. laticollis" in that genus and the confusion might have come from the fact that Choeradodis...

    Excelsior substitue?

A little more than what I would add to make mashed potato using those flakes so that it's a little runnier. Instead of boiling water in the kettle then adding it to the dry mix (the potato + brown sug + white sug), I microwave it for 30-60 seconds until the mixture 'feels right'. Right after I...

So I went to a reptile show...

Sarracenia spp. and D. muscipula are actually one of the easiest genera of CPs to grow if you live in zones 7 and 8 (same climate as N. and S. Carolina where they are from) and if you have an area outdoors that receives at least 7 hours of direct sunlight a day as they are adapted to grow in...

So I went to a reptile show...

Whoops, I forgot to make myself clear as to why you can't grow them all together in one terrarium. The Sarracenia sp. and D. muscipula are both from North America so they are adapted to the US climate and HAVE to go into dormancy during the cold, winter months. Without this 3-5 month period of...

So I went to a reptile show...

Nice additions dmina. What you have there is a Sarracenia sp. (the pitchers are immature so it's hard to tell the species), the well-known Dionaea muscipula and a Drosera spatualta... so you can't keep them all together 3 main rules Water: -CPs geneally evolved to catch insects and small...

    Giant Australian Mantis, HIERODULA MAJUSCULA

Yup, it's normal for H. majuscula. I had some nymphs with this 'colour morph' last year as well but the orange colouration faded away at around 6th instar to a normal green colour.

    Excelsior substitue?

Glad to see that more and more are having success with my method and I told ya guys and gals that the cotton ball works wonders. ;) I actually read the cotton ball substitute thing from somebody on the UK mantis forum so the credit goes to him/her (I can't remember Who exactly it was)...
