    Precarious

Ordered some Cat eye nymphs from precarious, and everything went mostly well. He had added another extra just in case of some error, and unfortunately, two of them decided to molt in shipping. One didn't make it, one is currently being rehabbed (doing very well so far), and the 4 others are...

    Fruit Fly Smell!!!

It's happening again! I'm getting a nasty smell from a hydei culture! How does one prevent this? The culture is not that old, and the media is josh's frogs'. I made it about a week ago, and there are larva, but its starting to smell gross again. What could be the cause of this? Too much water...

    Hard to acquire species.

@Synapze I currently have some iris that are growing up! I'm carrying on my older bro's tradition of catch a few, breed, incubate, release. Though now that I have much more experience, am not ten years old, and have the dedication, I can be a lot more successful! 😂 I'll let you know when I...

Do Mantis do Good and Molt Okay in Critter Keepers?

I wouldn't unless you alter the lid, as stated above. the slits are awkward and can be uncomfortable for the mantis.

Illegal to keep Exoctic Insects without permits

Very informative. Seems like you're the go to person in terms of regulations 😉

Illegal to keep Exoctic Insects without permits

Would any action be taken against online stores? For example, DeShawn's website. I'm assuming no, since the site and others like it stay up without issue. If that's the case, it seems an actual storefront wouldn't work out in trying to sell non natives, correct?

    Shield and Ghost Pics

    R. valida that got sprayed a bit, a Ghost that's a bit shocked at its own molt! Also another Ghost that molted this morning

Illegal to keep Exoctic Insects without permits

Ask them for their certifications, they may not have them and just say they do. A lot of stores say they're certified, but can't back it up. Of course there are some, but getting permits to sell mantises and other exotics that most people aren't interested in seems a bit too niche for a business...

    Apistogramma cacatuoides

Nice apistos! I got some Flame Red Agassizii myself a while ago, but no pairing off yet 😕  There's so many streams and tributaries that is almost guaranteed that any WC will be different than another unless their from the same body of water.

    Mantids confiscated?

So my canadian friend, how do you bring ooths over to Canada? I'll most likely be moving over there myself and you know I gotta have my mantids! I'm guessing just ship ooths right? Maybe I'll bring them in my luggage in a baggy or something when I go? 😏

    Larger Enclosures

A bit of an update: So I went to a few stores over the last few days, and it looks like there is not much for me to find- at least where I live. I did however find at dollar tree some cylindrical canisters with a screw on lid that were almost perfect. They were tall, they were wide, they house...

Do People Ever Make Fun of You for Keeping Mantises?

Back in elementary I brought in one of my adult females to show off, and I did a live feeding demo as well. Needless to say, the whole class was very interested and I was the "kid who liked bugs" which I happily embraced!
