You've given me a bit of hope. I'm hoping luck is on my side.

    shipping delays

Sooooo... My Moonlight Mantid order shipped via Priority mail on Wednesday afternoon. In the past all priority packages have only taken 2 days from mail date, so I normally would have received it today.. BUT I just checked the tracker and it's saying Monday as a delivery date! Even if it was a...

    Exo Terra Size

A couple more questions regarding Exo Terra's - Does the screen at the top have to be replaced? I thought I read wire can hurt their feet and I'm pretty sure they have a wire screen?   If I wanted to plant the exo terra with live low light plants, whats the best soil to use for a terrarium...

    New addition!

@Ocelotbren My shield is doing awesome! She's due to molt again any day now. She was a bit off for a day or 2 after her previous molt, but she's back to herself. She've very active and has a voracious appetite. I got her from Moonlight Mantids. I've never had an issue ordering from them (to...

    Exo Terra Size

Ok, so the 12x12x18 would be sufficient for the Shield & the Rainforest, and the other 3 would be good in the 8x8x12? Cool! I already have one of each :D   3 more to go. Thanks for your help.

    Exo Terra Size

My mantids are just nymphs right now, still living in 32oz cups, but I have been preparing by purchasing their adult enclosures.  Since these are my first mantids and I have no real idea on size. I have done research and I'm getting some conflicting size max of each species. I was wondering if...

    Molt Questions

Little budwing molted again this morning. Should I wait until tomorrow to feed?

    Eye color change

    @Connor thanks!

    Eye color change

I think it looks cool too! I was just worried he was blind or something lol (I'm a worrier obviously :P)
  13. DefyTheNorms

    Eye color change

Oh I didn't know that!  The above photo was taken this afternoon. I noticed his eyes looked "white" after his molt and it wasn't until I took photos today that I realized they were 3 different colors. Hope there' nothing wrong with him. He's still not eating very often.
  14. DefyTheNorms

    Eye color change

Is this a common eye color for Budwing nymphs? His eyes used to be dark brown and blended in with his body color. I noticed a couple days ago that his eyes are 3 colors now: beige color on top, dark center stripe, and white lower half. I was looking at photos and couldn't find anything that...

    Snack Time

I'm weird. I end up feeling bad for the insects being eaten alive  Anyhow, here's a little video of my shield mantis, Femme Fatale, enjoying a morning snack LOL. She's so beautiful!

    Next stage food?

    Thank you! :)

    Nice to Meet You!

My first mantis is a budwing. He's still an adorable tiny nymph. I have a giant Malaysian shield nymph as well plus 3 more nymphs arriving tomorrow - a giant African "blue flash", a giant rainforest, and a jeweled flower. :)

    Budwing Gender?

My guess was male as well. I should be able to confirm in another molt or 2?
  20. DefyTheNorms

    Budwing Gender?

Is it possible to tell the gender of a budwing this size? It's hard to get a photo since it blurs when I try to zoom in, but can anyone get a good idea from these photos?
