    Setting up my mantis vivariums

Hi! I used to have eco earth in mine, but changed it out for an abg mix substrate. It was recommended per this website (http://www.neherpetoculture.com/horticulture)when looking through their 101/102 guide on vivariums. I also emailed them and was recommended to do this as well. Your vivariums...

You've seen mine and that's 12x12x18 for 4 ghosts. I'll be posting an update when they move in in about a month.

Favorite Ghost Mantis Nymph Pics (L3)

Here are some of my favorite shots of one of my ghost nymphs. These were taken with a Google Pixel XL plus an extra macro lens attachment. Uploaded it to imgur for more storage space. https://imgur.com/a/LmIFo

    Building My Terrarium/Vivarium! Part 1

Hi @Logan_123 They have actually yet to move in here. I did, however, have one jump from my hand onto the glass and it grabbed on just fine. Part 2 will be posted when they move in.

    Macro collection

These are amazing! I'm especially biased towards ghosts and the color that's coming in on them at L4 is incredible.

@Zeppy44 Thanks! It won't let me upload anymore pictures to this post, so I'll likely be starting a new one. Stay tuned!

@Zeppy44 Hopefully I do haha. I'll probably add some leaf litter as well

    Building My Terrarium/Vivarium! Part 1

@Zeppy44 Yes, isopods and springtails will be added soon. I believe that the coconut fiber should work well for substrate. I'm hoping thay the plant life that naturally dies off and any food scraps and such from the mantises provides everything the clean up crew needs.

    Building My Terrarium/Vivarium! Part 1

@Zeppy44 Yes it is! The balls are supposed to be for water filtration and prevent mold/bacteria build up from the standing water down there (only about 1.5 cm of standing water). That standing water definitely helps with humidity. I never drop under 55% humidity with a misting every day (which...

@Ocelotbren There's also a layer of zoo med hydroballs underneath that, separated by a mesh

@Ocelotbren It's a coconut fiber substrate by Zoo Med

    Exo Terra for T. Sinensis

@Ocelotbren I simply bought a new spline of the correct size and used it to wedge the screen in place. The same process as replacing a window screen.

    Exo Terra for T. Sinensis

Check out my post in the enclosures section! I have a 12x12x18 exoterra that I have been getting ready for my mantids. Removing the screen was a fairly difficult process, but it's easy from there to replace.

    Sarah K (PanTerra Pets)

Sarah has been awesome so far. She is a great person to talk with and has given me a ton of great advice as a first time owner. I have placed my order and am waiting for the arrival of my mantids next week. Her website is very easy to navigate as well. I will update this when I receive them...

    Building My Terrarium/Vivarium! Part 1

@Zeppy44 Ah yes I get that. Ghosts are easily my favorite species that I've seen so far. Excited to have some. I should be getting some within the next two weeks. I'll put them in here once they get to L4 or 5
