Crickets just know not to eat each other???

i've kept greyish tan crickets in small containers and had no problems with canabalism during molts, although when i would take a dying cricket (cricket that was bitten and then got away) they would gang up and devour it.

    Bug Trapper

Well, what kind of little critters do you want to catch? flying insects could be collected by putting up a white sheet and a light behind it...but then you would have to be up during the night to collect them. Or you could make a pit(bucket buried in the ground) and put a flattish piece of wood...

    OGIGA's Mantis Mini-gallery

A manly pic of a manly mantis Is it not normal for a male Orchid to be brown? if it's a rarity then you should try to breed it as much as possible, then you could name it after yourself for the sciency name, common name: Orchid mantis brown varient! I'd nab dat! nab= buy, steal, or nab

    Leopard geckos

This is not a caresheet I didn't know you could pet geckos! Maybe just leopard geckos...the handfeeding trick you can probably do with any animal, I mean I can do that with my salamanders and they're wild caught! Anyway, a leopard gecko sounds like a great pet for a beginner. :)

ID a mantid found in china

So the horse hair worm gets in through mosquito larva? Well that's just great, that's exactly what I've been feeding my mantids when I couldn't get flies... are these worms common in the Washington state? Cause that would suck.

    pseudoscorpions

I haven't seen any Pseudoscorpions for a long while in my area, maybe something happened, and I was just wondering if they are easy pets to have(in the case that I would ever get one). Also if anyone has any I'd love some photos of them here.

Anyone know much about Hermit Crabs?

had some hermit crabs for a while, had sand, wood, and a little pool of water. I think they died from cold though, i relied on a heat pad and also had rather deep sand that kept heat from reaching the surface. If you set theor home up right then they're probably great. I don't think any marine...

    necrophagia's the word

when I was putting in some food for my Budwing nymph it looked as if it were lunging at the fly but instead it grabbed a corpse of an earlier chewed on insect and started eating it. I fed it while holding its container and that may very well be what caused it to attack the dead animal, just an...

    Need your opinion please

personally I would just keep trying to find an efficient routine to take care of them all(I'm greedy like that), but if you have to only keep some then I think you should pick like this: 1-2 mantis that you personally enjoy very much 1+ mantis that is popular and easily managed(for the...

    Mantis emotions

These answers do make sense, but they don't really disprove mantid emotions. just because all animals get excited over food doesn't mean it isn't an emotion. The excitement and alertness could be seen as some form of desire and insects probably have "pleasure" during breeding or else their...

    springtail raising

i caught some large springtail and currently have them in a container with leaves(dead and crushed partly) and plenty of moisture, i'm wondering if there is a better set-up i can make for them, and is there any way to stimulate breeding?

What ADULT would you personally choose....

i think i would choose the peruvian fern stick insects because they're something different in look than the others listed the flat rock scorpion because of how i've read somewhere that they are good tempered and easily taken care of and the tailless whip scorpion because i've been wanting one...

I'm very new to mantis keeping, gotten my fist three from Yen just a few days ago, I'm currently a resident of the town of poulsbo (state of Washington if anyone is curious). My age is 15 so I really don't have much income to spend on all the cool I animals that I do want  .

    Yen Saw - (US)

Yen answered all my questions which was nice since I'm new at this insect. He delivered the mantids as soon as possible. When I ordered them it was late winter/early spring so I was worried if the nymphs would get cold on the trip, but when the package arrived I found that he had also placed a...
