I just had one molt unsuccessfully molted into adulthood yesterday. I mist them twice a day so humidity is plenty high, maybe he fell. Only have problems with them molting, never had them eat each other.

Yes actually, I found him this morning hanging around a shelf :) So, the female laid an ooth just one day after mating. What are the chances that this ooth will have been properly fertilized?

He seems to be keeping it indoors on a shelf, it must not stink that bad or the enclosure is completely sealed.

Success! I tried to mate them last week, but it wasn't happening. The male would get on her but wouldn't do anything. He was only about a week into adulthood. So I tried again this week and it happened. Friday night, 6pm I put them together, an hour goes by with the male not doing anything...

Are you positive that it's a S. californica and not S. limbata? Hard to tell from the photo, but I don't see the dark banding on her abdomen. Though the photo is black and white, it looks like the wings have the wavy yellow pattern, which makes her a limbata. I'm no expert though, perhaps...
