I don't really use plants unless necessary like branches for idolos to climb. I do prefer artificial plants when I'm trying to get my orchids to lay her ooths. A bright green plant with broad flat leaves always works and looks nice in the terrarium

I can confirm that orchids do stop eating prior to laying! Both my females ignored moths in their cages only to lay an ootheca two or three days later. Noticed both my girls endlessly walking around the terrarium for the perfect spot to lay :)

Thanks her main diet usually consists of bluebottle flies but I try to vary her diet on occasion. After mating I would suggest loading her up with pollinating insects like moths and butterflies. Honey bees are especially good for them

So I put in a few flies so the female wouldn't eat the male while I sleep. They both end up grabbing a fly at the same time. Meanwhile the male is still drumming on the females back so he doesn't become dinner too . Anyone ever experience this? Heres also a link to my video

My idolomantis is excreting wet feces instead of the usual solid droppings. I've noticed this before with my other idolos who would stop eating all together and die off randomly. I have not fed them crickets and have only provided flys. Any ideas?
