    My Lazy ###### Idolo

Yes, I bought this one as ad adult from AngelofDeathzz/Nick. I also have 2 L7's. Yeah, I don't plan to euthanize her. I'll just let her be old and lazy-- like me! :)

    My Lazy ###### Idolo

My idolo has gotten so old and frail that she can no longer hold herself up without struggle and constantly falling down. And so, she has taken to kickin' it on a deli cup 24/7. She just lies down, luxuriates on her lounge chair, I feed her bon-bons (flies), and she seems happy as a clam. Anyone...

    Species/Specimen ID, please?

Dating is tricky. He was nice, but turned out to be married (claims to be "separated"), so we won't be going out again. Sigh.

    Species/Specimen ID, please?

So, I went out on a first date with someone last night who knows I love mantids. He brought me a gift. Which is super sweet and thoughtful. But it kinda bummed me out. LOL Anyway.... can anyone help me identify my new dead bug? Thanks!

    Insides of mouth?

I've noticed this as well, and always assumed it was some mechanism that helps move the food along. I will be interested to see what the others say. But just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed your video :)

    Idolomantis Consolidated

Just modified tank by adding plastic grid along the glass, so hopefully that will give a better chance for the second L6. I'll let u know if it helps.

    Mismolt: Severe Disfigurement

Thanks everyone! Tried to keep a close eye on her to catch the molt, but went for a run, came back, and it was already in progress. She didn't make it. Bummer :(

    Idolomantis Consolidated

Idolo Mismolt: Good morning. Just woke up to one of my two L6 females on the ground of the terrarium after a mismolt that took one of her rear legs. :( She's still alive (for how long, I don't know!)... But I'm wondering what I could have done to have achieved a more successful molt. You guys...

    Freezing flys?

One of my idolos is too old to feed herself, so I quick freeze flies, put it in plastic wrap, and smoosh it with a paperweight. She eats them without protest. I'm sure the previously deceased flies would be received just the same. Which reminds me, have you all see this book...

Gorgeous male ghost! Too bad you didn't get more photos of him! I have a really crappy camera, by the way. Just a stupid Cannon Elph fixed lens pocket camera, and I use the macro setting.

Tip of the Day: Foam Weather Stripping + Glass Tanks

Oh. Precarious. You flatter. But thanks. Yeah, the thing with the flies actually works out OK. I have left some gaps between the the twigs, and the mantids actually grab the flies when they wander into the open spaces, which they always do sooner rather than later. Seems to be fertile hunting...

    Idolomantis Consolidated

I didn't want to post here, and change the current topic/discussion, but I just added some info + photos under "Housing and Enclosures" about how to use weather stripping as a great way to secure sticks/branches for Idolos. Carry on.
