    You can also jut toss it in a jar, spray once or twice a week and it'll still hatch. When I was about 8 Texas, I found an ooth, broke it, threw it in my closet and it still hatched.

    If its in an opened aerated jar or container it will probably smell due to the amount of space its in. The chemical reactions between 2 or more things mixed together can cause things to happen. For example a confined oddly shapend container is less likely to smell than a wide 32 oz container.

    I use anything that has crisscross, net-like tops. It works the best for almost all mantids. Anything woody would work as well. What do you mean claws? The front claws or the tiny claws they have on each foot?

    I agree with Rick, the first one looks like a female. I counted 6 segments. The middle picture is kinda hard to tell. The 3rd picture is close to a male.
