Anybody know where I can find this?

I'm in search of these aluminum vent-like things for some enclosure projects I'm doing. I'm trying to find them online but I keep getting air conditioning vents...

Help With Understanding Tarantula Molting Please!

That looks more than decent enough good job. Just make sure it has access to a water dish at all times. You might want to check out this website about molting. http://www.beccastarantulas.com/tarantulas/husbandry/molting.htm

Help With Understanding Tarantula Molting Please!

Your tarantula is under stress. A tarantula in pre-molt has a grey or blueish grey color filling up that patch. From what I can see it's still peach. When a tarantula feels threatened or feels uncomfortable it will kick hairs which is a sign it is under stress and to defend itself. You may want...

    WANTED: Mantids or ooths

I'd like to get back into the hobby and would like some practice with mantids again. If anyone has any extra mantids or ooths laying around or can give me good deals that'll be great. Throw me an offer I cannot refuse!

Is my black widow gravid again?

Once they are adults they will keep laying eggs, just like mantids. If she's mated then the eggs will hatch. She will continue to hatch eggs after that but the hatch rate lessens everytime if she does not mate between those times. I had a black widow lay a sack and she was unmated. I knew...

Are there any easy to breed flying insects?

Soldier flies need compost and poop. I guess I'll just have to catch flies on my own. I just don't want to go after flies after a hard days work. Beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Are there any easy to breed flying insects?

I can do silk worms, I just read that the adults contain very little nutrition. Waxworms are hard for me to breed for some reason and I've followed numerous guides.

Are there any easy to breed flying insects?

[skip to last paragraph to get to the point. I tend to babble.] It's been about 5 years since I kept mantids. I started the hobby and joined this forum when I was about 15 and now I been busy with moving out of state and college and work and blah blah blah. I've been wanting to get back into...

    Milkweed bugs as feeders

They have a proboscis-like mouth part like mosquitoes and assassin bugs which they use to drill into sunflower seeds. They then inject the seed with an enzyme that dissolves it from the inside into a liquid slurry which they just suck right out. Yeah I figured that they wouldn't need to be...

    Milkweed bugs as feeders

I been doing some snooping around and I've found nothing on milkweed bugs overwintering in captivity. I will try them out soon and hibernate half while having the other half in a warm place. I'm guessing they wouldn't need it. From what I researched, they produce some type of anti-freeze agent...

    Milkweed bugs as feeders

Lab grown milkweed bugs lose their toxicity overtime because they are fed on sunflower seeds and grass/wheat seeds instead. Just like poison dart frogs in captivity. They lose their toxins and can even be handled because they are fed fruitflies and spring-tails while in the wild, they get their...

    Milkweed bugs as feeders

Has anybody used milkweed bugs as feeders before? I mean they are easier to breed than crickets and roaches and look a lot prettier. In fact they are known as the "married man's crickets" because they don't look or smell as bad as crickets and roaches for the wives ;) I know they are popular...

    FS: C. gracilis Scorpions

If you're into scorpions and tired of boring old skittish ones that hide under a rock all the time or if you're into mantids and want to try something new then these are for you. C. gracilis are hardy scorpions from Florida and are a little different from your average scorpion. Instead of...

    Ant farm

Yes, it is my first Messor species, but she leaked a white fluid from her abdomen yesterday and died. My friend found her at the lake in a box and it wasn't their season to fly yet so she probably had a colony of her own already and couldn't make it without them :(

    Ant farm

They're good. All are laying a nice cluster of eggs, but these 2 queens are just insane. What I like is that this single queen alone has laid just as much eggs. I hope Crematogasters and Pheidoles fly soon because I'm getting really tired of S. invicta's. They're the only species I've...
