    whose against air travel here?

I think the real questions here are: Do YOU refrain from using cars etc when they're not necessary? and more importantly: What chance do you think you have of converting the planet - A few hundred, even a thousand or a million people are not going to make a significant difference if they...

p.s. sorry for using america- I did so just because they are the world's biggest supernation and a pretty good reference / example for the statements

    whose against air travel here?

Well, adding to emissions is part of commuting... I did a little research (if you want sources, feel free to ask) - and it turns out the average american does ~29 miles per day... multiply this by a year and you get around 10 000 Now, putting that into Kgs of Co2 using this website...

    whose against air travel here?

If God would have really cared about air pollution, man would have been born with wings :D I just think it's a great world and as the rainforests are being cut down, species are dying out, architecture is getting replaced by the modern junk and all races are gradually being enveloped by...

    Mantids in Borneo

Agree with all said above ^^^ The rainforests are notorious for one thing: don't try to find stuff, let them find you! I found a shield mantis in Tahiti once - wasn't in the rainforests, it was on my hotel door!.. But yeah, have a great time :D

    whose against air travel here?

Hmmm, difficult to respond here without being despised by you (as I travel LOTS) or without sounding critical - but i'll try my best... My family are HUGE travellers - my parents left the country about 22 times last year (I less so because of uni) - but I am 100% for travelling. Who wants to...

    ikea insect housing :D

Could be the lazy side of me talking... but if you buy effectively 6 enclosures with the ikea thing for 2 quid... who cares about cleaning! - throw them away after!!! :D - but looking at them, the hole size seems big enough to let frass fall through anyway so with mantids- as the frass is dry...

    where to holiday in europe?

Best place (so far) for me has been Hungary/ Slovakia Czech Rep... So go to Budapest, Prague, Bratislava etc if you're into the cities - great architecture, scenery, CLUBS, VERY cheap etc etc but the country is great for wildlife too. In my short time over there in the country (which tbh is as...

    Comic sans

so does anyone else apart from me think Ian's weird?! :D - oh yeah, and for the Comic Sans thing too :P Although he does have a TINY ... point in that everyone i knew used it in school and it did get annoying... but not obsessive annoying

    ikea insect housing :D

shows how long i haven't been to ikea! - sounds like they've been around for ages... I just think 3 or so safety pins might sort it out... but prey might have to be something slightly less 'escapologist' than crix.... but would make a good mating/ breeding/ rearing enclosure... Honestly though...

    ikea insect housing :D

Went to ikea yesterday and found something that could be SO useful! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ikea-FANGST-hanging-...1QQcmdZViewItem - unfortunately the IKEA site doesn't have pics (well, I couldn't find them anyway...) - so i did a search on ebay. As fate would have it, they're actually cheaper...

    Tarantula Pics...*Dial-Up Warning!*

Glad someone else agrees that the avics are hard... worth it in the end, but still hard :) - personally though, I prefer the less hairy T's - avics tend to be fuzzy. Nice pics though :)

    mantids photoshopped

I don't know if this will help - I just looked up possible reasons for the red x phenomenon http://www.askbobrankin.com/red_x_appears_...d_of_image.html but works fine for me, so it must be something with your computers rather than JC's pics :( I have an avatar?!

    Scorpions

As with any species of any animal/ insect... whatever... The best thing to do is try to recreate the environment they were found in as closely as possible! (obviously without the natural predators, diseases etc..) crickets are fine- probably about half its body length is a good size

    Paralyzed spiders?

Spiders, I cans ee no problem- mantids eat spiders in the wild and suffer no harm. Besides, spider venom is toxic in the blood-stream, not if ingested (as it's just a cocktail of enzymes etc and these will just get broken down in the gut). Only problem is that if they're paralyzed, they won't...

    Aphids/greenfly

I used to feed all my nymphs aphids... I didn't spray them that often so I thought all the sap the aphid had inside it would compensate... seemed to work well! Only problem is culturing them... I have lots of pea plants which they seem to love, as well as Digitalis (foxglove). No ill affects as...

I got 7... but one escaped - trust me, won't be making that mistake again  - I'll find it one day under the floor boards in a few years as a foot long beast :D
