    Is she going to die?

I have a Creo female that lost the middle left leg while moulting 3 weeks ago and she did fine even with a clumsy claw (also from the moult). She would catch and eat flies with no problem, just didn't cruise around as much as she otherwise might have. She just molted to adult and the leg grew...

That's how I got started: orchid grower that bought orchid mantis, got a trio from mantisplace.com and they turned out to be 2 male and one female. Welcome!

    cilnia humeralis; please define "agressive"?

LOL! I'm sticking with the 3 species I've got, though mas y mas is so very tempting...

    Creos on a date

Technical jargon for 1st photo: :) 1/200, f32, 100mm Macro, Opteka 10X, MT-24, ISO 400, NIK SharpenerPro I'm guessing the CA is coming from the Opteka or the post-processing sharpening. I'll try some more with f25, ISO 100 or 200, and see if that makes any difference. I have a hard time...

    Plants in the enclosure???

Art & Crafts stores, Michael's, The Dollar Store, WalMart, K-Mart, Target... There is even a place called Silk Greenhouse in a nearby town.

    First Problem

Still hasn't shed yet - won't eat either so I'm keeping the humidity and hydration up and waiting to see what she does... UPDATE She finally shed this evening: adult with wings now, did the flip fine, the bad claw seems fixed, and she regenerated almost 3/4" of her missing leg! .

    Plants in the enclosure???

Fake plants are the way to go! I prefer silk/fabric flowers to actual plastic ones - better gripping surface for your mantis.

    Wanted: Adult male Creo. pictipennis

I ended up with 4 adult female and 2 adult male Creos, mated one male to one female 2 days ago, and my other male just died. I will rest this guy between dates, but asking him to survive all the girls might be asking a bit much. Does anybody have a spare adult male Creo. pictipennis (or 2?)...

    Creos on a date

First of all - huge THANKS to SporeWorld and Precarious for all of their help and council! Mark sent me some great Creo. pictipennis and was gracious and helpful with all my questions, and Henry was very generous with his photographic information! I had my first adult female - nicknamed Miss...

    Where to buy Fruit flies?

I have bought Hydei from both MantisPlace and FlyCafe and while both are great, I have to give the nod to MantisPlace. The cultures I started from the MP cultures have really produced. I've been using mostly a Mikhail's Massa mix but have started using Rebecca's potato-flake mix.

    How long till adulthood

IMO it depends on the species as well: my orchids were were growing and shedding almost weekly for a while, my ghost in the same environment has only shed once in 5-6 weeks.

    First Problem

I think she's going to shed to adult today. Typical, she picked a spot fairly low in the cage where she is likely to have problems. This time I moved her to a clean 32oz cup, empty except for her 2 sticks and wet paper towel on the bottom for humidity. Lots more room to hang down and shed from.

Easy way to keep a humid enclosure clean

You guys probably know about this system already, but... When I was raising panther chameleons I read about and made a 'fog' system: ultrasonic humidifier with top output, PVC coupler fits in top hole, PVC pipe goes 3' up and 90 degree elbow to horizontal pipe over the tops of the cages...
