    If your reasoning in using moss is for appearance than spahgnum moss looks better when wet, and in that case it will encourage mold growth, you can add springtails to the moss and they will help lower the mold production...

    I just had to plant a new milkweed garden for all the monarchs and queens that tend to cover my one large milkweed... hopefully this helps out the species....nice to see other members into butterflies :) (and the spider looks like p audax, but not too sure)

    That first ant from the google search is, Iridomyrmex purpureus (meat ant or gravel ant)....endemic to Australia....so I don't think that is it....
