Hi, Has anyone had any problems with wild caught ootheca being parasitized by wasps? I am thinking of using this as the basis of a research project for my degree and would be keen to hear of peoples experiences of this and if anyone is unfortunate enough to hatch out any wasps I would be keen...

Have mentioned this in another thread but it leads on from this..... Had one of my remaining 2 idolos shed to L9 successfully the other day. Its a female so has another shed to go til its an adult. Gonna try a few ideas that people have suggested to improve their chances of making it! Alan

I now have 2 L8's and one L7, IF they make it to adulthood I would love to breed them....I guess it will depend if the adult moult is as difficult as the last one!

How are you picking her up? I don't generally handle my mantids but if I have to, I coax them to walk onto my hand or a stick.

Unfortunately lost one of mine during its L7 to L8 moult last night. It was exactly the same setup as other successful moults. Shame when they get so close to adulthood. They seem to have such feeble hooks to support such a heavy body.

I've managed to raise mine to L7/L8 so far and they are still going strong. It does seem that moulting becomes more tricky after L6, but this is covered in another post. I think the bottom line is like Christian says, they haven't been in culture for that long but we are learning as we go...
