    First attempt at pinning

    Incomplete ooth

    Thank you for the reply.  I figured the extension wouldn't be where the young would exit.  Thanks for the link...very interesting.  I wonder if the malformed ooth is related to her death.  She was an adult for only a little over a month.  The other two females in the enclosure seem fine.  ...

    Alcohol as short term preservative?h

    Thanks for the information.  I tossed them in rubbing alcohol last night before I went to bed then pulled them out today.  I'm now storing them in my freezer.      Once my mounting kit is in I'll try pinning them.  Ghost have such a wide range of color and a display of the variety would be nice.

    Incomplete ooth

    I noticed the first ooth produced in my communal ghost enclosure doesn't have the ending portion that extends away from the branch.  The second ooth produced by a different female does.  Could the first ooth be incomplete since it is missing the extension?  Would the missing portion effect hatch...

    Hello,  I noticed I had a couple of ghost mantids die over the weekend.  Unfortunately, I had not ordered my mounting kit and do not have all the necessary tools to pin and mount them.  Would it be possible to keep the two in rubbing alcohol until my kit arrives (mid next week)...

    Howdy y'all!

    Howdy from Houston.  I'm fairly new to mantids and have kept all sorts of herps and inverts in the past.  I'm enjoying watching and raising them.  Here is a photo of my favorite female ghost.   W. Smith
