How to feed blue bottle flies ?

Can someone PLEEEEEASE help? I am at wits end here! I need to know a less lethal way of feeding my flies. They keep "drowning" on me. I have tried bread and screen, I even thought maybe putting honey in the bottom ridge of the cup they come in to feed them in the bigger enclosure I have them in...

    Cricket breeding

What are all the little hairy caterpillar things in my feeder cricket tank? They seem to be multiplying rather quickly. The don't turn into some flying anoying things do they? I have been keeping them cleaned out of the tank but when I went to clean it the other day there was quite a few of them...

    The mites have struck again.

I am guessing this may be why my cultures kinda stopped producing? I have 2 cultures that I made Mikhails way. They started out like a house of fire now I barely had enough flies to feed 15 mantids. In 2 days I highly doubt there will be enough again, they just went 3 days since the last...

Has anyone tried selective breeding with mantids?

I noticed with my Europeans that they get skittish and fly off when you stare down with them. I'll have them on my hand and they will be looking around but when they realize some big monster is holding them and they stare you down to see if you are a threat if you stare into thier eyes just to...

    Europeans loose white spots???

As far as the playing they love the treadmill. Hand over hand they can do it for seems like hours. I use to play the stare down with them but I got tired of them either flying off my hand and smashing into the wall or once in awhile my face. As far as the spots I can't say for sure he had them...

    Europeans loose white spots???

I fed my mantids earlier and noticed my male has only black on his under arms (now?). I am not 100% sure he had white when I brought him home but the white usually attracts your eye when you see one. Every time I feed them or play with them it stands right out. Could this be like a sighn of...

I should have prolly finished my question. I ask this cause I found these awsome 123oz containers at Family Dollar. It has a screw on cap with a flip top lid. I ripped the flip top off and glued screen around the top. Now for the inside part of the gluing. I wanted to hang screen inside to make...
