    Yay wild caught Stagmomantis Floridensis

I found this guy hanging out by the lights at my buddy's apartment complex. It was quite a feat trying to catch him, thank god I happened to have my butterfly net in my trunk! He measures 7.5 cm or 3 inches, so I believe he is the larger Florida type. Sorry for the quality, I only had...

    Ugh, worst day ever

So I just got home tonight and checked on my L2-L3 P.paradoxa and the 32 oz cup is completely empty (had about a dozen). Lid is completely closed, foam stopper intact, but no signs of life, no carcasses, nothing! Upon shaking the container in fury I see one straggling red ant. I...

    Insect Identification please

I found something that carries a heap of dead ants on its back, like a decorator crab does in the ocean. I tried searching "decorator insect" but nothing came up. All you can see are some mouth pincers and legs on the bottom and just a big heap of carcasses. In Florida, by the by. Thanks.

    KSTBCR (US)

Finished a trade with Danny ( KSTBCR ) with great success. He even threw in some phasmid eggs for free! Overall I would recommend KSTBCR to anyone here in the Mantidforum community! -Warren

    Eastern Lubber Nymphs FS/FT

Wanting to start your own plague of Egyptian proportions? Try the Eastern Lubber, the laughing stock of the grasshopper world. Big, fat, clumsy, these guys start out black and in their final molt turn a vivid yellow. Since they suck at jumping and cannot fly, they rely on toxins in their...

To all my fellow mantis hobbyists in EU

Hi all- I've been weaning myself off of mantids as of late and haven't been to the forum much except to lurk and show off my cat, the reason being that I am going to be vacationing for about 3 weeks in Europe coming up from April 25 to May 15. I will be arriving firstly in Paris, and then...

    Official Mantidforum Fallout 3 topic

Who's glued to this game besides me? Morpheus I know you must be too :P I've beaten it once as a good character, about 35 hours worth of questing and such. Now I'm on my 2nd time as an evil character, going for sneak and melee and such. It's incredible I how little of the map I've even...

    My Cresteds and Gargoyle Geckos

I have 3 Juvenile Cresteds, which are getting pretty big (one's over 10g, and another is over 15g) as well as a recent hatchling. This is the enclosure for the two larger ones: The first crestie I bought was a very plain color with an occasional orange flair, but as he's maturing I'm...

    Tampa reptile show 2008

I drove about an hour and a half to this expo, but it was pretty fun! These aren't all the pictures, but some good ones! Horny lizard Alligator Snapping Turtle (This one was fierce... notice the pink "lure" of his tongue, looks like a worm) Matamata turtle Albino Alligator - Guy said...

My amateur pinning / drying attempt

Yes I'm using pins and a Guinness coaster! Last one I did was of a Texas Unicorn, but I just spread it into a sort of battle pose and when it had dried out I hung it from my ceiling using sewing thread, like a sort of mantis mobile I can add to. If I can remember to I will get some pics of...

    My neighbor's Galapagos Tortoises

My neighbor's backyard is crawling with turtles and tortoises, here are his two babies, he's had them over 15 years. You can see in the above picture that he painted a small "2" on her shell.

    Lost its head!

I have two adult female Texas Unicorns. One ate all the crickets I had dumped in, so the other decided to eat her! She ate the head, arms, and two legs. All that is left is the long thorax, a plump abdomen, and two legs. The mantid has been alive for 3+ days now. When I pick her up by the...

So that's why my house has cockroaches...

One of my roomates just moved out, he was the biggest slob. He hadn't even moved out completely so I went in with a trash bag to clear it all out so I can rent the damn room again. There was takeout with french fries and half eaten food still in the bags, spoons stuck to bowls with dried food...

    Methods to heat Gongy

I'm thinking of getting these sometime in the future. Seeing that they need to be kept above 85f, I was wondering if using my natural hot / humid climate here in Florida would work out during the summer. On a rainy summer night like tonight it dips down to about 78f, but then goes right back...
