I think my flower mantis is dead.

Well, it's safe to say he's gone. I wasn't really attached to him, but I did look after him and I'm gonna miss the little guy. And, thanks everyone!!

I think my flower mantis is dead.

I came home to find one of my sub-adult male on the substrate. I saw him hanging upside down on his plant before I left the house. I didn't think he was getting ready to molt, since he didn't look like it. I guess he was in the process of molting and fell, possibly broke his neck? .. I'm...

    Flower mantis are now adults.

Yep, the female is an eating machine. They are pretty crazy eaters, I feel sorry for their prey. I would hate to be eaten alive!! Anyways, thanks for the advice!

    Flower mantis are now adults.

Hey guys! The spiny flower mantis I got from Yen just molted 2weeks ago. I have two males and one female. How long should I wait before introducing the male to the female?

    Idolomantis diabolica

If I remember correctly, you have a 400D? Upgrading to a 40D would be a waste of money. I'm selling my 40D, so I can get the new Rebel XSi. Reason being, I like the feel of the small rebel. Unless, you require the 6.5fps and like a big bulky camera, there's no need to upgrade. Just buy a...

    How does dirt work?

Sand holds little to no moisture at all. It's best to stick with coco fiber if you want humidity. Keep the substrate clean and dry, you will not have a problem with mold or odor.

    P. Wahlbnergii mating, help!

These two species are so similar, I'm sure it's possible to cross breed the two. Especially with someone inexperience like myself, I don't know how to tell the difference between the two specie.

    Enclosure?

Right now, I have unlimited supply of roaches. So, I guess that will be their main diet and maybe give them crickets every now and then. I don't like dealing with flies, but might be tempted to give them wild caught ones. I've noticed alot of people using screen lids, but here's the lid for...

Wow, I like their antennas! Though, they still look creepy but I want one.

    Idolomantis diabolica

It's the combination of both, lens and camera. No denying that under the right conditions, a full frame camera will always beat out those with a smaller sensor. And, just diffusing the lights will not help you bring in more detail.

    Idolomantis diabolica

I don't know why but these always remind me of that monster from the movie "Jeepers Creepers". And, wonderful pictures by the way. Igor is more of an artist really, plus that full frame camera really helps him bring in alot of details.

What is this thing on this wild mantis?

Could be some type of parasitic worm, I've seen them crawling out of crickets and grasshoppers. Or, it could just be as mentioned part of a plant. We may never know unless it is removed and examined.

Please help with a ghost enclosure

Hand feeding is actually alot easier. Flies are just too small and too much trouble, I just feed mines big'O roaches and they will be full for atleast 2days.

That's a laugh. Paypal wants nothing but money, the more you make the more they take.

    Enclosure?

Yeah, it is divided. I got two of these tanks and I only have three flower mantis, so I may need to purchase more mantis. It's on the big side, but they will grow once they hit adult. So, it will work nicely. I'm starting to think the enclosure decoration will go more nicely...

    Enclosure?

Well, I ordered 10 small Pla-houses from that site, but I ended up finding a better enclosure. Today, I stopped by wal-mart and I noticed these Betta fish divided tanks and thought it would make a good mantis enclosure. So, what do you guys think? I used whatever I could find around the house...
