    mantid heating.

most mantids do fine at room temperature, just keep them in a warm part of your house, luckily for me in my house thats my bedroom :P a few mantids do need extra heat though, such as Gongylus Gongylodes, Orchid Mantids, Blepharopsis Mendica and Idolomantis Diabolica, as well as any Deroplatys...

i have a ghost mantid who lost the right forearm to another larger ghost, so much for one of the most communal species :P i belive she was L3 or L4 when she lost it, the next molt took almost 2 months to come around which as you might know is a very long time for molts after the molt there...

DoD = Day of Defeat, WWII shooter based on Valves source engine also, massive HL fan here and fan of everything Valve makes to be honest :P yes, i did catch the brain and i personally prefer Poisinous Headcrabbus which goes by the common name of "pain in the butt" :P who else is stoked for...

5 days and still no molt?

she's going to lay an ootheca or more anyway, might as well try to make them fertile :P and as other people have stated if she had been eating alot (you said you fed her every day) then she would need to get rid of the weight before molting, if the abdomen is heavy then it can bend when the...

    Another Molt!!!

i've found molting to be pretty proportional to various effects... more food and hotter enviroments definately speeds up molting, unfortunatly it also has the effect of shortening a mantids already (in my opinion) too short life span

    keeping houseflys

i forgot to ask actually, whats the best food to gut-load flys with for mantids? and also, i know refidgerating slows down fruit flys. but how do i deal with getting the larger, much quicker house flys from the container into the mantids tank without any/too many escapes?

    Gongylus, gongylodes

everyone i know here in the UK calls them "Indian Rose Mantids" but i definately think that "Violin Mantis/Wandering Violin Mantis" is a much better common name

    Ants vs Mantis

ant's are basically wasps without wings, and as such still have a rather nasty sting, nearly all mantids are smart enough to know a poisinous insect when they see it and usually hold the pray so its unable to sting, however there is always the chance that something could happen, you wouldn't...

    keeping houseflys

maggots are handy little creatures, as they only eat dead flesh, was used years ago in hospitals to clean wounds like burns as they'd eat all the decaying and damaged flesh and leave the good healthy stuff, so no they're not picky eaters, any dead meat will do, and i assume that you guys don't...
