    Fallout New Vegas

I recently purchased Fallout New Vegas for xbox 360. There are giant Mantids in the game that you have to kill. There are also Mantis ootheca in the game as well. I feel bad every time I have to kill one with my plasma rifle :( .

Parasites crawling out of live Mantis!

I just returned from Perscott, AZ with a bunch of Stagmomantis limbatas. They all survived the trip but one was really sick. She was acting "different" before I left AZ. When I took her home to Seattle I noticed her abdomen was black and rotted. When I held her up to the light I could see her...

    Look what I caught

I caught this big rhino beetle (Dynastes granti) here in Prescott, AZ. I'll let him go in the morning. I know absolutely nothing on how to raise/breed beetles. I'll stick with Mantids. But he sure is cool though. -Kevin

    IMAX Alien Insect PrayingMantis

I came across a YouTube video of Praying Mantises (some of you probably have seen already). "IMAX Alien Insect PrayingMantis" is a cool video of Mantids. It is broken down into five 10 min. video clips (Clip 0 - Clip 4). Mantises eating snakes, mice, hummingbirds. Chickens eating Mantids...

    Stagmomantis limbata ooths

I am new to raising the Stagmomantis limbata species. I will start breeding them in about two weeks or so and was wondering how many nymphs typically hatch per ooth? I'm guessing anywhere between 50-100 nymphs. I know Chinese Mantids usually hatch about 300 nymphs but figured limbata numbers...

Can Fake Plants be Toxic 2 your Mantis?

I was wondering if fake plants can be toxic to your mantis. When spraying/misting your cage and your mantis ingests water droplets off the leaves, will this make your mantis sick? Thanks, -Kevin

    Hierodula grandis vs. Hierodula membranacea

Is Hierodula grandis a tad bit bigger than Hierodula membranacea? I know they are not the longest mantids, but are these two species the largest as in bulkiness and weight? Thanks, -Kevin

Cloth or aluminum lids 4 insect cup?

I will eventually be purchasing insect cups and wanted to know which lids would be better. If I am raising newly hatched mantis nymphs and are using aluminum mesh lids, will small flightless fruit flies be able to pass through the mesh and escape? Thanks, -Kevin

Mantis PICS! Need help 2 ID species

Sorry for the poor quality of pics, having difficulty with camera. What species of mantis is this? It is most likely a female from my observation. My other female looks the same structurally but is yellowish in color. It is not Mantis Religiosa (no bulls-eye in the underarm region). No red dot...

Does anyone know where to look for wild mantids in Western WA? Never seen any in all my 31 years living in Western WA! Thanks.

    Finding Mantids in Prescott, AZ

I'm having one heck of a time finding Mantids in Prescott, AZ. I only found an L4 nymph a few weeks back (girlfriend found it crawling up my back in downtown Prescott) and a bunch of old, hatched ooths. I search in the general area were the ooths are but no luck. Been searching flowers, waist...
