    Small white moths

Does anyone know the nutritional value of these? They're all over the place. You can find them anywhere there's grass.

Good prices and fast service. Would buy from Reggie again.

    Cage carpet

I bought some with the intention of trying it as an alternative to moss. Has anyone tried it with their mantids? How has it worked?

Orchid Mantis has been molting for 30 hours. Problem?

It usually takes 20 minutes TOPS. What part of her skin is she still attached to? If the front legs or the mouth is stuck I'm sorry, but she's a goner. If it's just the abdomen or back legs you might be able to pull her out.

    Questions about crickets...

Well, I work at petsmart and we have the standard brown crickets in small and large sizes. Typically the crickets don't get much more than the cricket food/sawdust we're supposed to give them. However, I throw in lettuce and other fresh food whenever I work. Basically, ask the petstore if they...

    Leg Problem

If it's really close to the joint I would cut it. If not, wait a couple days to see if it stays where it is.

    Small Mantids

Just a thought. When searching on the internet I find that much of the time a site that uses the scientific name is more likely to have reliable info.

All I need to do is go to one of the many staffs of goldenrod in the field behind my house. They really are everywhere.

    wasp vs mantid

It's a pretty even match but usually a mantid will win. My H. Grandi can take wasps about 2/3 their size.

In my crawl space. Good idea?

Well, I typically welcome spiders in my home, as they get rid of pests a lot better than mantids. My advice would be to leave the spiders and let the mantid loose outside.

    Yoga pose

My mantids do it all the time, and they're all adults now. I always figured it was akin to when you just randomly twitch.

Can I feed only "Vitamanized" crickets?

Well first off everyone and their mothers are going to tell you that mantids don't need calcium. As far as feeding soley on crickets, it's not life-threatening, but just like most organisms they benefit greatly from a varied diet. Try bluebottle flies, feed them honey water once they pupate...

    Mantis bites

I've been nibbled, never outright bitten though. It was a wild chinese , and I've never been on the receiving end of aggressive behaviour from my pet mantids.

This newbie is really impressed with Mantid mentality

I think on a cosmetic level they are quite similar. They stalk their prey, they both clean themselves almost religiously, and they both are incredibly fast at certain times. However, I don't think it's quite the same as far as intelligence goes, and we've had this debate before. For example...

    Worried about Nymph

Don't worry. There's been stretches where the food has been a little scarce to find outside. Think about it this way. In the wild most mantids will probably go without food for a week or more several times in their lives.
