    Purchase Preference: Nymphs vs. Adults

Just curious what everyone's preference is when purchasing a mantis. I have recently purchased an L3 budwing, and an adult H. Parviceps. I find that I am enjoying the budwing more, and I feel that it is because I feel more connected with it as it has been through 2 molts with me already (and is...

    Actual adult size of budwings

Think budwings are my favorite. Everytime I show my face over the top of the cage, my little L4 comes running like a puppy to me. It runs like a spider. Those things are so adorable.

    GreenOasis

One word: Wow. Ordered an H. Parviceps from Carey, asked her a million questions, and she was always cheerful and helpful. The package arrived quickly and I was shocked with the way it was packed (in a good way :P ). Foam insulation, a cold pack, and tons of newspaper filler to make sure my...

    Actual adult size of budwings

Well, I am very happy that I chose this species as my first. I'm curious why you guys say the budwing is underrated though. Seems everyone here appreciates them and they seem to be the choice for a lot of beginners. Maybe the more experienced mantis keepers under appreciate them? :o If so...

Thanks guys (or gals) :P So these would be considered medium size then? I have a tiny L3 (not sure about its sex) and it just ate a fly almost as big as it was. I love these things :P

    Actual adult size of budwings

Hello all, I keep reading conflicting information about the size a typical budwing attains. I've read males reach 4cm, and I've also read 3-4 inches. If anyone could enlighten me that would be great. Thanks!

    Hello from MA

Hello all. I'm just getting into mantids though I've kept rhino beetles for a couple years now. Always have been interested in mantids, though they seem to require a bit more effort to feed than the rhinos. Looking forward to reading your posts. Dynastyus
