From what I have ready it immediately starts to harden when they are out. As far as how long it takes to fully harden I am not sure. No more than a few hours. I would just pop in a few fruit fly or house fly, depending on stage of Mantid, and wait and see.

I usually wait about a day or two. They stock up on food before they molt so they should not be too hungry yet. I hope this helps.

I have two H. Multispinas that are getting bigger by the week! They have molted twice since I have had them. I am trying to determine which one is Male and which is Female. On one I count 6 segments and on the other I count 5 segments. Any thoughts? Thanks, -Tony
