I notified the seller. His answer was that was what his supplier said they were. I suggested her properly inform his customers of what he is actually selling going forward and I logged a complaint with eBay.

Thanks everyone! I purchased my oothecae on eBay for $7.49 ($18. shipped). Never kept Mantids before so excited as they seem fascinating. I believe from they are Chinese Mantids based on the photo and research. The ad never said the type. Hopefully they arrive next week before I leave to go...

Just ordered my 1st oothecae online and excited to keep Mantids :P I currently keep/breed Dart Frogs, L. Williamso geckos, leopard geckos, Panther chameleons. So I have lots of feeder insects available for new mantids!
