This was awesome to watch, albeit, slightly morbid. Prime devoured this cricket. He gets relatively animated when a tasty morsel wanders near!! Makes me wonder about the giant species!

I'm new here and haven't used any sort of sponge plug yet...but as I was looking at them, it seems that upholstry foam might work? It's available in craft stores and the price depends on the thickness (?) and comes in green and the muted gold/yellow of regular sponge.

Happy Christmas from California! I am a just-starting-out mantis fan. I've always been enthralled by large green (Chinese) preying mantises that were native to my family's ranch. My parents used to point them out to me as a child and we would sit and watch them in the garden for a long time...
