2nd ooth to hatch this year. This one fell from it's branch, but that didn't seem to bother the little guys. It produced well over 100 babies that are still kicking around in our rain garden.
Random update:
Wildling passed on in December.
She laid 3 more ooths before the end.
The first Ooth was the only one fertilized (hopefully fertilized).
Welcome!
I would be interested in your studies.
I have definitely learned things from my mantids, but the things I learne always lead to new and bigger questions.
And I'm loving the quest for knowledge.
This thread helped settle my nerves!
My T. Sinensis, Wildling, just laid her ooth today and did the exact same thing; lid and wall.
It did create a shape I wasn't expecting.
Did you happen to take a picture of the ooth while attached to the lid and side?
I plan on sticking around! I'm down to only one T. Sinensis, Wildling. After a summer of hatched mantids, It's strange to have just one.
However, I did mate her with Bob and she began laying her ooth this morning. Hopefully they are fertile and I'll have her offspring.
I still plan on...
Great news! Wildling is currently laying her ooth.
Now here's to hoping Bob got those puppies fertilized!
The picture isn't the best, but my phone was the nearest thing to me.
