    lost leg

mantids usually chew off bad limbs, but I suppose if it's black, it's dead, you could cut it off and hope for regrowth. My giant asian died of fungal infection. He finally chewed off his own claw, and then he could barely catch prey. I pretty much assisted his hunting before he went blind and...

    dead fly eggs?

I read your post and I was dissapointed and then I looked over (the mantis is on my desk at work) and through all the twigs and leaves, I could actually see a single egg hatching. Looks like they'll be ok. thanks guys

    dead fly eggs?

I got some fly eggs from spiderpharm.com. I'm currently keeping them in the fridge, but they've been in there for about 2 and a half weeks. How can you tell if the eggs are dead? They're kinda looking dark brownish, like a dead waxworm. When do they normally expire? My mantids need to eat, and...

    wasp vs mantid

My giant took out two huge bumble bees in his prime. + Many many large spiders. He killed two wasps when he was older and more frail, it seemed that he couldn't get a good hold on them. He'd often kill them with a single swipe, if it just made contact, it would puncture the exo-skeleton of the...

cohabitation - ghosts and gambian flowers...

oh-I'm not too surprised. It was PETCO taht sold me the fruitflys. I needed something right away though, so it worked out ok. I just haven't removed the lid since the 'bomb' went in. They're eating like kings.

Don't think I am ever going to keep Paradoxa again

How long do they take to get to adult? I thought I read somewhere that they take 3 or 4 weeks? not true? Mine is pacing his enclosure..pacing pacing pacing. Anyone seen that? seems like it'd be a sign of something wrong. He's flicking fruitflys out of his way as he walks back and forth and in...

cohabitation - ghosts and gambian flowers...

No apologies Yen. I can barely keep up with my mantis and my chameleon. Well..while waiting for some extra space - one of the 5 gambians became lunch for the ghost. Hopefully it wasn't the only male or the only female. I don't know if anyone else can respond to this but - how on earth do you...

    Yen Saw - (US)

Yen knows how to raise 'em! Just got my first ghost from him today with a few extra gambians! Not that extra's should be expected, but what a great surpise! Two new species for me to raise and photograph. solidly packed, labeled, (held on special request), shipped on time and in shape! I've...

cohabitation - ghosts and gambian flowers...

A member of this board and a great breeder, Yen Saw, just sent me my first ghost, along with five gambian flowers. So just incase Yen is too busy to respond to my email because he's feeding his thousands of hungry mouths, I thought I'd ask out here... Can they live together? will they eat each...
