My H. Venosa's do this as well! :)  Especially when i remove the lid from the enclosure and they are on it or i put them on the yucca for some free-roam time and they see me walk by; they will dart under the leaf and lay flat. LOL. They are quite the characters at times!  :P

Aha! That explains it then. My son kept peeking over my shoulder and she would see him and do one of those poses. I've often wondered this myself too. Whether or not it may harm them to not let them fly or "exercise." But out of fear of not wanting them to end up in a place i may not be able to get to or get hurt, i have limited fly time to times where i will be right there with them.  Think of exotic...
