Does anyone know if some people will do taxidermy to thier mantids after they die? :mellow: Is there such thing as mantid taxidermy? :huh: Does it requre a lot of chemicals? :ph34r: Is there a way I could preserve the dead body of a mantid? :p

What do you mean by "taxonomy"? Taxonomy is simply identification of the species. Do you mean something more like "taxidermy"? The preserving of the body. That is quite common, at least in my bugroom.

Preserving your dead mantids is not hard nor does it require the use of any chemicals. You pin the mantid and let it dry for a couple days. Then place in a display box of some type. I have built quite a display of exotic mantids I've built with help from forum members. I show it to kids at the local schools and cub scout dens.

 
Oh and it should be after they have peacefully died, and not while they are dying as some people on here would say
