One of my Miomantis, has no front or side leg on the one side of her body, I 've had her in this cup on the pad since she molted maybe a month ago, she cannot walk good at all, she just lays on her pad and I give her food and water every day, A couple of days ago when I went to feed her she had a surprise for me. She laid her first unfirtilized ooth! I been putting off taking pic of it cause I did not want to move her, she an invalid don't ya know. But it is time to clean her little house and remove her little ooth. As I said "she's a sweetie".

Aww, what a fighter. ;) Are you going to try to mate her?

How did she lose those two legs? Bad molt?

I don't know how she lost them, and no, she don't need no male! I asked her and she said no. Really I figure she is in bad enough shape without all that so I just letting her live out her life eating chocolate (ha ha) and watching the tv (wall). :p

Haha somehow I can imagine that chocolate/tv life. ;) :p

You're such a good bug Mommie. I love my babies too. I have an H. membaranacea that had one bad "claw" and was missing a middle leg (5th instar) and every day I had to tease him to get him to eat one pinhead and some honey - for weeks! I thought about the freezer but I thought if he can do it, I can spend a few extra minutes. Well, he molted and the claw is better (still can't use it) but he's much bigger and can catch his own food with the other claw. My little baby, all growed up and doesn't need me anymore. :(

Sounds like she is living in the lap of luxary. And, yay for her knowing she don't need no man to make her happy. ;) You should try proping her infront of a real TV though. Mine love it. Soothslayer has been kicking back on my bed for the last couple hours watching TV. She also loves looking out the window.

Their something aren't they, this is the one I told precious about, how when I saw she had no legs,(I was wrong, she has both front claws no legs on one side) I put her on the pad and when I looked at he later, she looked like she was sunning herself, she had the one claw up on the screen and was cleaning the other while laying on her side. When I looked in on her the next morning she was asleep (now get this) with just her head sticking out from under her pad. ha ha ha, what was I to do I had to take care of her. And that was over a month ago. she is still hanging on! BTW, I changed her pad tonight and she seemed really to like it. Other than the ooth she does not move.
