Ootheca

Incubation Period: 30 Days?

Hatch Rate: <Avg. Number of Nymphs>

Avg. Time Between Oothecae: <Average time between each Ootheca laid>

Avg. Total Oothecae: <Adult Female total Ootheca laid on average>

Nymph to Adult

Avg. Mature Time: <L1 Nymph to Adult>

Humidity: <High/Medium/Low or percentage>

Water: <Times per week/day> <Nymph / Adult>

Also, where does this species originate from? I've read several different countries on different websites.

I've never kept this species, David, and your own answers as you raise and breed it, may be the best. I can say something about the name, though, especially as some sites claim that it originates in Japan. Aside from the fact that "Taiwan flower mantis" suggests that it comes from Taiwan, the species name in the binomial, 'formosana," is taken from "formosa," the Portugese name for Taiwan, meaning "beautiful island."

There now, that didn't help much, did it? :D

Helpful or not, still very interesting. How do you keep so much up there? :p

About six weeks. I never counted exactly how many days till hatch.

Hatch Rate: <Avg. Number of Nymphs>

Anywhere from 15 to 40 nymphs, depending on the size of the ooth.

Avg. Time Between Oothecae: <Average time between each Ootheca laid>

My females usally lay every two weeks.

Avg. Total Oothecae: <Adult Female total Ootheca laid on average>

About 6 to 8 ooths.

Nymph to Adult

Avg. Mature Time: <L1 Nymph to Adult>

Around 2 months in 85F.

Humidity: <High/Medium/Low or percentage>

I keep mine in about 80% humidity.

Water: <Times per week/day> <Nymph / Adult>

I mist twice a day.

Feeding: <Nymph to Adult>

I usally feed mine every other day.

Housing: <Size / Items inside / Substrate>\

I keep mine in 32oz cups, with a few sticks for them to climb on. My substrate is bounty paper towel.

I was told they are from Taiwan.

Do not ask him that, he will reply

I have them, never bothered to check, but they lay a lot of ooths and they hatch rather quickly! Did that help?

I don't keep track of all the little details like that for mantids. Pretty much every mantis species I have owned have been kept under the same conditions.

I don't keep that much of a track either I spray all my mantis' enclosures once a day and keep them at 70 F. One problem you may encounter with Acromantis Formosana is the females won't be that receptive to mating so you may have to wait a little longer.

Thank you all for the information. I know this stuff is overly-detailed but I'm creating an online encyclopedia for everything mantid-related. Ismart, thanks a bunch!!!!
