I wrote this up a while ago and forgot to post it.. but did want to share it...

I raised her & her mate from L2 , successfully bred and hatched her ooth...

This is what the nymphs look like about L5ish some of them were brown, some had little green jackets... So cute!

Then when they got their bud wings...

When they got their wings...

Breeding:

Here is a picture of her gravid...

Ooth & nymphs

I want to finish this log properly... As she was one of my first mantis, my first adult mantis, my first successfully breed, my first (her second) ooth , I hatched, and first generation of mantis to have raised to adulthood, I am now waiting for first ooth to hatch. (second generation)

I called her jaMama (japonica mama)

I wanted to list her ooth history,

Ooth history = She laid a total of 18 ooths!

I think she was an amazing mantis... I have to sadly report she has passed on ... and flying free over Rainbow bridge. She passed peacefully on 4/25/15.

Sorry to hear about your loss. She does sound like an amazing mantis! :) I can't believe all of them little babies. There is no way I could take care of all of them, but I know your an amazing breeder and mom to them little mantis babies and can definitely handle it. Thank you very much for sharing!

Very nice thanks for sharing Denise. jaMama I like that, do you pronounce it as "your momma"? ;) Eighteen ooths is really astounding, sounds like she had a full life (and left behind a whole mantid city population too).

As I raised a few of her kids and bred a female, I am scarred to see how many ooths my little mama will lay. The little nymphs are cute though, can't wait to see some in the next few months.

no... ja... like japonica..

I am waiting on the ooths to hatch now.. I have 3 of her daughters bred... and I am at about 6 ooths now.. She was just one... now I have 3... I am gonna have A. japonica's coming out of my ears.. and more!

surprisingly though the nymphs are small... but not as small, as you think they would be... i just had another male become adult so I am going to have to breed them all a second time... I lost my first male just after breeding with the third female... I didn't lose him to her but 3 days later... he had matured quite a few weeks before the females....
