Caught this little #$*%@ attaching to my side. Luckily I caught it early. As you can see it didn't get a chance to feed, but it was attached. I had to rip it off.

Ticks are actually arachnids. You'll notice it has eight legs rather than six. And there are a few moments where it assumes the standard arachnid pose with the front set of legs rearing up.

When I was growing up in the midwest they were just a part of being a kid in the country. Every time we went to the woods or the fields we would come back with a few at least. The dogs always had them and many were often full of blood and engorged. These days I find a few a year on me after being out in the sticks. Love the pics, never seen the up close shots of one.

I find them pretty regularly. Usually on my clothes before they get to my skin. There are more than usual this year. This one must have been brought in with the cat because I hadn't been anywhere I could have picked it up. I'd never seen one up close either so I took advantage of the situation. :D

If you heat them up they will explode! :tank: It would make a cool video. B)

I could do without ticks, they get really bad here where some people keep many dogs and don't use protection. I use frontline plus on my dog, and have only seen 2 ticks in 3 years. :D
