This is my female Budwing laying her second infertile ootheca.

But I have this beautiful male for her to meet. I tried to mate them but I think she was too close to laying and she wasn't calling.

This is him acting like a Popa Spurca. He is so adorable.

Like I said before; sorry about the quality. I took these on the fly. I know the male H. Majuscula fly, but what about the females? She has some big wings too. I wanted to take them outside but wasn't sure if she would fly away.

I think they made a connection. I think he bit her or something. They got into a big fight first. I had to separate them. Can you see the green mantis blood?

Oh dear! I hope she's okay... the green blood on her ... reminds me of alien vs predator. I wish you the good luck of her laying a fertilee ooth. I always wanted a female budwing..

Nice photos in the first posts!

Very cool, my HM's are maybe a week off adult for both of them. Wings are getting very swollen now. On a side not saw one of the Kongobatha diademata molt to presub today wooo! I really want them to get wings already they are so small and cute (she is about 3cm ish now)

I'll be sure to send you one. You live in Illinois so priority shipping would be fine.

The snake mantis. They have cool eyes.

Well unfortunately my male was eaten by the female. :(

Took my eyes of of them for a little while and when I came back his head was missing. The rest of him followed shortly thereafter.

My male popa got eaten last night :(
Sorry to hear that. I wanted to try and save mine though. Just wasn't quick enough.

Funny thing though, It looked as if my male changed colors when he was on her. He was kind of a dark green with a white stripe in each side to being a light brown. This was after he was on her for a while. I don't think it was my imagination. Has anyone experienced this before?

I really like H.majuscula. Very sweet personalities. My female never flies and I've had her loose in the room most of her adult life. The male, however, can't wait to fly. Definitely don't take the male outside.

My male flew across the room today for the first time. Longest flight for him. My females do not fly either, but they like to flap their wings though.

Mvalenz,

I hope the ooth that she laid was fertile enough to hatch nymphs!

Add me to your list for those nymphs! Yes, proprity mail would be fine cause we live in same state.

How is she?

Will do. She is doing well. Her little injury healed quite well also. Thanks for asking. I hope she lays an ootheca soon.

My female majuscula has eaten 5 roaches since I got her
They are extremely voracious haha. My subadults (1 now adult) would eat 10-20 medium crickets in one day (when I was waiting on a food order I used the smaller nymphs food). I was amazed...

My adult female H. Majusculas eat 5 large crix per day. My male eats less; like 2 or 3. I tried to feed him more so he will mature quickly, but he does not. I guess it's the biology behind the species. I read somewhere on the forum that the males mature later than the females so not encourage inbreeding. Not sure if this is valid, but it seems to make sense.
