so i posted here earlier about my two "male" mantids but last night after they had a very very full dinner and their abdomens are nice and plump i finally got a good luck at them and realized they were both females! I also found a third mantis awhile back in the middle of the street who is female too. So I have three female chinese mantids.

Has anyone noticed any personality differences between mantids of the same species and gender? Denny my brown one is very docile never bites but my other two the green ones Brandy and Taffy tend to be a bit more exploratory with their mouths.

Oh my gosh yes!  Mine are, I think (as some are pretty lil'), male and they are all very unique.  My oldest is very curious and friendly (name: Indy), he likes to hang out on me and explore.  I have one that is super jumpy and nervous (name: JJ -Jumping Jack), one that is super calm and likes to just stay put much as much as he can (no name), another that is super sneaky and grumpy (Grumpy).  My youngest may be a girl, not sure, it's pretty small yet, still I2, but it is a super ambush hunter and tends to be content with life.  3 of my 5 are chasing hunters, 2 of them ambush.
