No!!! This one was molting to L6 I think... :( I am using deli containers that are 6 round by 8 inch tall... Is this too small for a subadult - adult B. Mendica?

I'm very frustrated, because for days I have been trying to help her, she has been acting very strangely, always hanging out near the substrate, so I thought maybe it was too hot and gave her little bit less heat. I came home today to find her, the same as my last mismolt, laying on one side, completely junked one side of the body, one of her forelegs is actually hanging by a thread, and the other legs on that side are too bent to use. The other side of her is wild and frisky, that's what really gets me...

Please give me some advice! Are my enclosures too small? I even changed the hanging surfaces to give her more areas to easily hang....

yen has good luck with these, as I dont have any,,, guess what, I didnt have any luck with their molting either. I forgot to put this one on the hard list  . It is so fustrating to have this happen, but your guess is as good as mine, the idol do the same thing. Try going to his log pages and read what he did with his.

Rebecca, would you say that the P. walhbergii are the same in this molting issue? I only had one with a problem out of 9. I feel the Pw are pretty easy. Just wondering as the mendica is a species that I do want.

No, I dont think so, u may lose one every once in a while, but nothing compares to the scale of mismolts to this bunch. Even those I had turn adult, I may of had one with good wings :( :( :( is that enough sad faces to convey my feelings?

the size does seem a little restricted, but saying that i have had a sub male moulting to adult in a pint glass, which is slightly smaller than those dimensions you have given. I personally find Blepharopsis pretty easy and straight forward to look after. When you said too hot, what was the temperature? Most people fail with this species by not providing them with enough heat, i keep mine atleast 100F if not warmer than that with a spot lamp without spraying them ever.

One thing i've noticed with this species is that they tend to moult during the day (the ones i had), perhaps using the high temperature to aid the moulting process, but nevertheless, they will decide when to moult but as long as you provide them with warm enough temperature they'll be fine.

hope this helps

I never had the temp that high, so I am at fault, I go stand in corner, but my legs are too tired and feet hurt an I am afraid if I get up right now, they will kick me in the head. :p I really did try not to mist them the last set I had. But it was so hard, I did take a qtip and dip it in the water and put to their mouth, they drank and drank and drank! made me feel right bad it did.
