I woke up to hundreds of little Carolina nymphs I can't believe how many are there and more still popping out. 1398076312832.jpg

There were 5 ooths in there 2 T Sinensis and 3 Carolina but all of them were together with the correct side exposed for them to emerge. I was not teal sure if any would hatch. All of them have now hatched the T Sinensis were first a few weeks ago. Then Friday the first Carolina then this morning the last two Carolinas hatched at the same time. It had to be at the same time. I am going to have my hands full this afternoon. I am going to split them into three larger containers and load them with FF. I am amazed that the die off rate of the Carolinas is pretty much 0. I had one baby kinda stuck Friday I just put a little bit if water right were his little legs were and he came right out and is happy and eating in his own little enclosure since I wasn't sure if he would make it.

I don't have any experience with this species so if anyone has suggestions or advice I would appreciate it.

I also have one more ooth it's an European Ihave no experience with this species either. All of the nymphs born Friday are eating and I don't believe I have lost any not sure if any gave become someone's dinner but no unexplained dead.

did you get the oothecae on ebay, i bought what they called stagmomantis carolina oothecae from them and the nymphs turned out to be tenodera angustipennis. the nymphs just look very similar! quite long. you will know for sure if they have bright green eyes and a stripe going along the head.

though if they are carolina, just care for them as you would any other mantid. feed them, hydrate them, give them space to molt, mist them.

It might be, my mom got them from somewhere for me I was kinda shocked because she thinks I am nuts. I never asked her where she got them. With them being all together the way they were I really thought they wouldn't do allot. There have been allot of the little guys that's for sure. I will have to try and get a couple pictures so I can zoom in and get a closer look they are pretty tiny. Eating good have had just a couple die off. They don't show interest in food for at least 48 hours. I may take you up on that offer hibiscusmile. I have a tone of mouths to feed lol. The weather here in NH has just not been very warm.

S.carolina was the first mantis I raised. They are great animals and easy to care for. It is this species that captured my curiosity in mantis keeping.

I am having pretty good luck with them so far I have a ton of babies, I had three ooths hatch. They are still tiny I do believe the nymphs from the first ooth are getting ready to molt any time. I can't believe how much they eat its crazy. I can barely keep up with them. they are quick little devils that's for sure always trying to escape I had one crawling on my shirt the other day it must of been there for awhile before I noticed it.
