So this is my new foster son, Riles. He's a lab mix and a little over a year old.

He was dropped off at Little Victories (our no-kill animal shelter) a few months ago with his neck slit open and seriously infected. He couldn't be kept in the kennels because he climbs fences and escapes so until today he was kept in a crate all day long, only coming out for short walks to go to the bathroom. Not anymore! He's still up for adoption but hopefully, after he's leaned some things about living indoors here, he'll be a perfect dog in every way possible!!!

Have any of you ever fostered an animal? I'm starting to wonder what I'm getting myself into and if I'm going to be completely heartbroken when he finally is adopted. :(

Poor dude, I'm glad to hear he is out of the crate :) , you've done really well :) . Cute dog, feel sorry for him.

I thought this was to adopt you at first............lol

My dog showed up at a friends house one day. They knew we were looking for a dog. We took him and he has been pretty good but i've had my hands full ever since. Mine is a fence jumper.

Wow a fences climber that how he got the cut, my exwife keep our lab that also was a fences climber later he move to a farm the thing with him was if he got fixed he would of been better off, I had picked him up @ the pound like 5 times in a year.

So what I am trying to say is I hope he is fixed and that he gets along with your other dog, good luck ;)

Riley and Lola are best friends for sure, they really wear each other out. Thankfully he gets along with my two cats as well. No one's sure how his neck was cut because the infection was so bad but the fence jumping thing seems very possible because the cut was vertical. So far the only bad thing he's done is pee in my house, like...four times now. Without any warning too! hahah I'm sure he'll catch on quick, he's a smart guy but living in a house is a entirely new thing for him. The no-kill shelter is a really great place but it's kind of like doggy prison :(

My sister, the other lovely girl in my avatar, has two dogs from a rescue, both are wonderful pets for her. Sophie was the first after her first dog Cleo died of cancer, so she got Sophie and she was just to full of energy for her and after a year or so she found Fazie! he is a nut! He wears Sophie out and thats a good thing. This guy is not as tall as Soph, but u should hear him, he talks and moans like an old man with his shorts too tight  He has a lot to say and whenever we are on the phone, u can hear him mumbling the whole time. He was taken from a couple who were (now don't get mad, I cannot remember the new word for ******** people, but they were really that!) They would wake up every day and beat the two dogs, sorry, cannot go on with story, hurts to much, but she was able to take Fazie and he has worked out so well she is very happy with him, he peed a couple times to, but is good now with no problems, when she leaves for work in the morning she tells them she has to go and they settle down in their places and watch her leave, and when she comes home, all is well!
