Are any flies out in the winter?

Hi guys,

I use wild caught flies as a primary food source. I'm wondering will any be outside in the winter? I know there will not be as many as in summer but will I be able to find any to feed my little guys? I live in southern california so temps very rarely drop below 40F

Sounds like you should start breeding your own.... I dunno about where you are but I'm in Oregon and it gets pretty cold in winter where I am but there are usually stil flys around.

How many flies are you breeding/selling in your house at one time?

prob 200,000 a month! funny, only a few escape though, ask Orin, he was here, not many make it past me!

Nope - no flies would be out, but you could try crickets depending on the species.
