OK so today when I was feeding my snake I thought I'd try one of my mantids on a fuzzie mouse(about 2"+ long& dead obv). So I offered it to currently my largest mantis an adult female T. A. Sinensis. She did a threat pose then backed away with wings flared up and everything. So then I though I'd offer it to my adult female P. Ocellata (LOL) obviously at first sight she ran away. As a last resort I offered it to one of my sub adult male Chinese mantids, he is the most aggressive mantis towards food in my collection. He is also very fat atm anyway! I opened his lid, dangled it infront of him and almost straight away he did a threat pose and grabbed it! I then took him out of his pot and sat him on my desk with his new meal LOL.

After a few minutes I tried to put him back in his cage he dropped the mouse so I gave it to the snake :) .

+ Sorry for the mini story lol.

Been there done that long time ago..........

Wow, I didn't expect a male mantis to eat something like that.
They don't really get the finicky appetite until they're adults. Up until then they eat like the rest.
